We do things better

Don't settle for care that doesn't fit you

You should feel comfortable with the people you welcome into your life. We pay attention to the details, such as how you like things done, what makes you feel at ease and where you want more help or independence. If something isn’t working, we want you to tell us so we can listen, adjust and get it right.

We’d love to chat with you about what great support looks like for you.

Frequently asked questions

There can be a lot to think about when choosing support. We’ve answered some of the questions people often have before getting started with Shepherd Support Services.

That is completely okay. Building trust can take time, and we do not expect you to feel comfortable straight away.

We take the time to learn how you like to communicate, what helps you feel at ease and how you prefer support to be provided. Our approach is patient and respectful, so you can get to know the people supporting you at a pace that feels comfortable.

Yes. We understand that previous experiences can affect how you feel about starting with someone new.

We will listen to what did not work for you before, what you would like to be different and what would help you feel more comfortable this time. That information helps us shape support around your preferences and avoid repeating approaches that have not worked for you in the past.

Yes. Support can be available on weekends and public holidays depending on your needs, your funding and team availability. Rates may differ depending on the day and time of support, so we will explain any applicable charges before the support is arranged.

If your funding situation changes, please let us know as early as possible so we can talk through what that may mean for your current support.

Where other people are involved in managing your plan, we can also communicate with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or other relevant people with your consent. Our aim is to help you understand your options and avoid unexpected changes wherever possible.

Yes, provided the timing and arrangements can be coordinated appropriately.

We can work with you and the people involved in your support to make the transition as organised as possible. This may include understanding your existing routines, current needs, preferred support arrangements and when your previous provider will finish.

The goal is to reduce unnecessary disruption while you move from one provider to another.

Yes. Before regular support begins, we will provide a service agreement that explains the supports being arranged, responsibilities, relevant fees and other important information about working with Shepherd Support Services. We encourage you to read it carefully and ask questions about anything that is unclear before agreeing to it.

Your support should continue to reflect your needs, goals and circumstances as they change. We encourage ongoing conversations rather than waiting until something becomes a problem. If your routines, priorities or support needs change, we can review how things are working with you and discuss whether adjustments would make your support more useful.
